Ramos-Pinto

Bright grenadine in colour with shades of violet. Mature aroma of forest fruit, blackberries, cherries, figs and cistus, with a floral hint. Smooth and fresh on the palate, with the length and expressive aromas characteristic of an Upper Douro wine. Gastronomy: Excellent as an aperitif, it goes very well with soups, starters and salads. We particularly recommend it with dishes of fowl: roast chicken, duck risotto and quail, and with soft cheeses.

Wine Enthusiast

A rich, concentrated wine, very linear in its progression from black fruit and smoke aromas through the dense palate of figs and blackberry to the toast and final acidity. It has tannins that act as a firm base.

Score: 88. December 15, 2009.

Wine Advocate

The 2007 DUAS QUINTAS (DQ) ADRIANO RAMOS PINTO is a blend taken from the winery’s Quinta dos Bon Ares and Quinta de Ervamoira vineyards, composed of Touriga Franca (40%), Tinta Roriz (40%) and Touriga Nacional (20%). This is certainly one of the best “regular” Tintos from Ramos Pinto that I’ve had. Elegant and focused, it has enough tannin to provide some intensity and support for the fruit, and it has impeccable balance, pleasing flavors and a nice finish relative to its modest price. Admittedly, it lacks much depth—so drink this in the nearer term, when it will show its best—but it does show surprisingly good structure for its price category, together with clean, pristine fruit. Drink now-2016.

Score: 88. —Mark Squires, February 2010.

Wine Spectator

This well-concentrated and fruity-tasting red exhibits plenty of raspberry, dark cherry and braised fig flavors, finishing with mocha and spice. Drink now.

Score: 87. —Kim Marcus, March 31, 2010.
